Things I Learned This Week

March 29, 2007

  • We (as humans) can’t multitask.
  • The RPM Challenge Listening Party is tomorrow… make sure you check out Mosfet.
  • I like New York Flatbreads Mini’s Everything crackers with hummus and Mi-Del Ginger Snaps (not with hummus… and I don’t care if they are “healthy”, they rock). Don’t bother looking for the Mini’s, now that I like them, Hannaford with stop selling them… they don’t like to see me happy with my crackers.
  • Exploding Dog still exists.
  • Watching a mashup of Rachel Ray’s “mmmm’s” is funny at first, then feels weird.
  • Curt Schilling has a blog.
  • If there ever was a reason to max out your credit card and buy a HD TV, Discovery’s Planet Earth is it (even if it did get a cheesy “Oprah” blessing). My jaw was on the floor watching the HD/slow motion shot of the killer whale jumping out of the ocean to catch a seal (not the singer, because that would be crazy).
  • Everything can be rated nowadays, including streets.
  • If you don’t mind someone in India listening to your thoughts, you can call Jott, leave a message, and get it emailed to you transcribed (sounds like an awesome job… you got to wonder how many get BCC’d).
  • Not to be outdone, CallWave will email you a summary of your vmails (not sure if outsourcing is involved).
  • WOXY has a blog.
  • You can check your blog’s popularity on Popuri.
  • If you can convince the person you want to call to sign up, you can call them for free with Jajah (no headset required).
  • When the ice caps melt, I’m not going to have waterfront property.
  • Chloe doesn’t look like Chloe (and is not really that techie).
  • Shorpy is a pretty cool “100-year-old” photo blog (I’m partial to the railroad pixs).
  • I can finally stop wondering when Coke And L’Oreal will make a health beverage (because it was such a obvious partnership).
  • Vinegar is pretty versatile.
  • Another summer, another Bourne.
  • I have a new music video channel.
  • If you bought a single on iTunes, they’ll now credit you that single if you buy the entire album later.
  • Apparently I can’t tell the difference between a Dogfish 60 and 90 (although I think there was a error in the blind taste setup).
  • There is an answer to the “Naked Chick” mud flap.
  • There is a 4876% markup on SMS messages.
  • Now you can “Intercept” your UPS packages (sounds all spy-like).
  • The future is going to be sooo cool.

Apparently Seacoast Perspective goes underwater at 10 meters or so - I guess he SHOULD be concerned re: global warming.

And the IPA challenge was not fixed or otherwise rigged. You just know your vodka’s better than your IPA’s.
